Oregon -> Washington State 2-10-11

3 Oct

I took the chicken option and headed East away from the coast and the 10 days of forecasted bad weather. It was quite a tough decision as I was really wanting to check out Seattle and Vancouver.

I got over it pretty quickly after having breakfast in an awesome cafe overlooking the Columbia river and beside “Bridge of the Gods” (apparently the previous bridge was created from a landslide and formed a perfect crossing for the local Indians who named it bridge of the Gods, then some feuding in the heavens cause one of them to destroy the bridge. So white man made one out of steel.)

French toast is a little strange over here, its not just bread soaked in egg and fried, but they egg it, then coat it in breadcrumbs(?) and deep fry it. Still, it tasted pretty good

Escaping from the weather meant a 5-6hr ride inland, a lot of Oregon doesn’t seem to have many trees at all:

Spent some of the day on windy little roads around the sides of mountains like this:

I’ve now stopped in a motel in Spokane, Washington for the night, not sure where I’ll end up tomorrow.

    French toast is egged and coated in breadcrumbs? That’s bread incest. No wait, it’s “in-bread” ah ha.

    Hmm.

        Really good, although a bit much by the the time I got through it all, it was served with a berry syrup. I was wondering what they call french toast in France it’s; pain perdu.
