Tallest building in America (ex world)

12 Oct

Sears Tower, Chicago, was completed in 1973. 1730ft/527mtrs and 108 floors high. The lift took less than a minute to reach the 103rd floor which is the Skydeck. At the top left of the picture below you can see the glass boxes that jut out on the Skydeck:

Standing gingerly in the previously mentioned boxes (I’m not afraid of heights but this did feel very weird.)

This is crazy, two people have climbed the outside of the tower, in 1981 Dan Goodwin did it with a homemade spiderman suit (suction cups etc) when he reached the top 7hours later he was arrested for trespassing. In 1999 urban climber Alain Robert did it in bare hands and feet! Apparently it got foggy near the top and really slippery?!
